Long Distance Service

The PSU telephone network requires the use of Long Distance Authorization Codes to place long distance calls. In accordance with PSU policy, long distance codes are assigned as unique numbers to each student desiring long distance service. Do not share your long distance code with anyone. Encourage your roommates to obtain their own code from the NTS office.

Note: Never give out your long distance code to anyone else. You are held responsible for all charges made with your code regardless if you made the calls or not.   If your long distance code is lost or you suspect someone else is using it, contact the NTS office immediately.

To obtain a Long Distance Authorization Code:

Please visit the Networking & Telecommunications office, in the Fourth Ave Building room 84, and bring the following information:

This process takes about 10 minutes. You will be given your authorization code at this time.

PSU student long distance rates are as follows:

Domestic Calls: (within U.S.)

Any time of day, any day of the week: $0.039 per minute

International Calls

50% to 80% discount off AT&T International Direct Dial Rates, depending on country. Click here for specific international rate information. International cellular rates may be drastically higher than charges for calls made to land lines.

In accordance with state statute, the State of Oregon Department of Administrative Services (DAS) is the statewide contracting authority for all telecommunications services, including long distance service. Acting under this central control authority, DAS uses competitive bid processes to establish statewide contracts that must be used by all state agencies and OUS institutions. Thus, OUS must use and is bound by the rates, terms and conditions of all such DAS contracts. In the case of domestic and international long distance calling service, DAS currently has a contract with AT&T, which submitted the lowest overall bid when the contract was awarded.

Basically, PSU is the only long distance and telephone provider available for University Housing Apartments. However, you may use pre-paid long distance calling cards to make long distance calls.
